August 16, 2018

Just Energy BROOKLYN RUNS Happens October 11, 2018 in Prospect Park

Bring the office to the park for a fun, teambuilding event that strengthens community in Brooklyn and promotes health in the workplace. The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce will hold its first-ever corporate run on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 5 p.m. in Prospect Park. The inaugural Just Energy BROOKLYN RUNS 5K is open to individuals and groups of employees from organizations around the five boroughs.

Proceeds from the run will support the mission of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to promote a healthy and robust business environment throughout Brooklyn. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Prospect Park Alliance, the nonprofit organization that cares for the park. The race will be followed by an awards ceremony and reception in the LeFrak Center at Lakeside.

“Health and wellness is certainly on the minds of those who live, work and play in Brooklyn. That’s why we are excited to be kicking off our first-ever BROOKLYN RUNS 5K Corporate Challenge. Whether you’re an avid runner, or more of a walker, this is a great opportunity to bond with co-workers and enjoy beautiful Prospect Park and its newly renovated LeFrak Center at Lakeside,” said Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce Acting President Rick Russo.

“I commend the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce for initiating the Just Energy BROOKLYN RUNS 5K, a run that advances the goals of workplace wellness that we’ve worked together to advance. When Brooklyn runs, everyone wins!” said Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.

“Just Energy is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the BROOKLYN RUNS 5K,” said Miriam Stiefel, Affinity Program Director, Just Energy. “The mission of our Affinity Program is to benefit non-profit organizations while helping businesses manage their costs with competitive rates on gas and electric products. The Just Energy BROOKLYN RUNS 5K will provide funds for the Brooklyn Chamber’s work in developing a robust business environment and for the Prospect Park Alliance to maintain its beautiful grounds for use by Brooklyn families and visitors.”

Prospect Park is a favorite course among serious and recreational runners. The location of the start and finish of the course loop is the southeast corner of the park at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside. Lakeside spans 26 acres and was created as part of a $74 million restoration of the southeast corner of the park by Prospect Park Alliance.

There will be medals for the top male and female runners, but runners of all levels are encouraged to participate in the event. Employees who don’t want to run with their company can just register to attend the after party and unwind after a day’s work while socializing with co-workers and networking with the Brooklyn business community.

Sponsors of the 2018 Just Energy BROOKLYN RUNS Corporate 5K include Investors Bank, HSBC, NYBDC, Socceroof, Sterling National Bank, National Grid, Con Edison, Mount Sinai, LeFrak Center at Lakeside, Prospect Park Alliance. Registration is $40 per team member. For more information, email [email protected] or visitwww.brooklynruns.nyc
