Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA)
Federal: Read EEOC regulations effective June 2024. Pregnant employees have the right to accommodations – including additional breaks, relief from hazardous duties, and a modified work schedule – assuming they are not an undue hardship on the business.
NYS: All employers must start paying for breaks taken by nursing mothers to express milk. They must also notify workers of their rights at the time of hire and annually.
NYC: All employers must add this poster to policy handbooks, post, and provide a copy to all current and new hires.
