Statement on the Retirements of Assembly Members Rhoda Jacobs and Joan Millman
May 20, 2014
STATEMENT BY BROOKLYN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PRESIDENT AND CEO CARLO A. SCISSURA ON THE RETIREMENTS OF ASSEMBLY MEMBERS RHODA JACOBS AND JOAN MILLMAN
“Brooklyn’s Assembly delegation is the greatest in New York State, largely due to the efforts of Rhoda Jacobs and Joan Millman, who have both announced that they are retiring from the legislature.
Assemblywoman Millman’s work has served to better numerous Brooklyn neighborhoods including Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens, Vinegar Hill, Gowanus, DUMBO, Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights and Prospect Heights; in addition, her commitment to women’s issues, aging, alcoholism and drug abuse has impacted the lives of so many in her district.
Assemblywoman Jacob’s work across the ethnically-diverse communities of Flatbush and Midwood has long-been concerned with health care, welfare reform, job development, banking and insurance, among other issues.
We applaud both these dedicated elected officials who have been in the forefront of so many significant issues across the borough and the state – we thank them for their dedicated service and wish them continued success in their future endeavors.”
