STATEMENT ON PASSING OF BALDEV DUGGAL

“The world has lost a true visionary and humanitarian with the passing of Baldev Duggal,” said Brooklyn Chamber President & CEO Carlo A. Scissura. “Mr. Duggal exemplified the American Dream, coming to this country with limited resources and using his strong work ethic and unrelenting passion to achieve success. Despite his many business accomplishments, Mr. Duggal was motivated by more than financial gains. He was a brilliant sustainable entrepreneur who strove to improve the planet by tackling global issues related to electricity, water and agriculture. Mr. Duggal also made a profound impact on Brooklyn, New York and the entire tri-state area, from the construction of the Duggal Greenhouse to the solar and wind-powered streetlamps installed throughout the Brooklyn Navy Yard and on the Atlantic City boardwalk – the only lights to work during Superstorm Sandy. The Brooklyn Chamber is proud to be hosting the 2016 Building Brooklyn Awards at the Duggal Greenhouse, and we will be dedicating this show to Mr. Duggal. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and loved ones. It’s safe to say the world is darker without Baldev Duggal.”
