James Patchett, President and CEO of New York City Economic Development Corporation addressed the Brooklyn business community at the latest edition of the popular Brooklyn Newsmakers speaker series. In his address, Patchett outlined the organization’s economic development projects throughout the borough, such as infrastructure investments, specifically in Coney Island; 21st century manufacturing jobs, specifically in South Brooklyn/Sunset Park and the Brooklyn Army Terminal; affordable housing, specifically the city-owned Bedford-Union Armory. Patchett also spoke about some of the hardships the borough faces, and what EDC is doing to alleviate the problems.

“Brooklyn’s transformation into a bastion of creativity and leader of industry will be remembered as one of the most dramatic urban renaissances in history,” said James Patchett, president and CEO of NYCEDC. “But we know that, as part of this rejuvenation, there’s still more work to be done. Today, it is the city’s job to promote continued growth in the borough while ensuring every single New Yorker can partake in this prosperity.”
