This morning, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce hosted Carmen Fariña, Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education, as keynote speaker at the ninth edition of its Newsmakers series.

Chancellor Fariña discussed various topics pertaining to education in New York City and Brooklyn, including universal pre-k, dual language programs, and literature diversity.

“Brooklyn is my home and I greatly enjoyed the opportunity to speak to a group of thought leaders and business owners who are so dedicated to the City,” said Carmen Fariña, Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education. “I urge everyone to make a commitment, small or large, and become involved in their local public school. I’m proud of the work we’ve done, but we have so much more to do to ensure an excellent and equitable education for all our children.”
