THE GOiNGS ON…

Urban Chandy is now certified to use the ETL Mark on products signifying that its fixtures are in compliance with international safety standards.  Urban Chandy, a Brooklyn Made certified company, designs and fabricates its unique lighting fixtures in their Clinton Hill studio with reclaimed wood and other salvaged materials.
The ETL Mark is an internationally accepted alternative to UL (Underwriters Laboratory) as a proof of product safety compliance. The ability to use the safety mark comes after thorough testing by Intertek, a nationally recognized testing laboratory by OSHA.
“We have always fabricated our lighting fixtures using UL approved components following electrical code set forth by UL,” said Urban Chandy Founder and President Cassidy Brush. “But the certification of our products with the ETL Mark allows our commercial clients to pass inspection more easily. It will also insure that our products will be accepted for installation in residential and commercial sites in North America with a lot less hassle.”
Brush further explained that by investing in the certification they hope to achieve their goal of increasing the number of commercial projects coming in.  “Our product is high quality and we want our clients’ experience to be as seamless as possible including after the product is finished and delivered,” said Brush.

Mirror, mirror on the wall… Brooklyn based manufacturers, Good Thing, launched a new product recently called the “Utility Mirror.” This industrial beauty tool is a super-polished piece of stainless steel with a rubber tool grip at the end. Check out the Utility Mirror at design events, including the American Design Club pop-up shop, Design Miami/Basel, Tictail’s Manhattan pop-up shop, and Wanted Design’s Made in Brooklyn Holiday Market.
