OBH Brookdale Medical Center Unveils New State-of-the-Art MRI System to Improve Community Health
The new 1.5 Tesla General Electric MRI delivers faster, more precise imaging—increasing OBH Brookdale’s ability to provide advanced diagnostic care to the community.
This machine is a game-changer for our patients and staff,” said Dr. Kirwin Gibbs, Chair of Radiology at One Brooklyn Health. It allows for faster studies and positions the department for growth, including expanding breast MRI services and MRI-guided breast biopsies.
Wayne Jordan, Administrator of Radiology, emphasized that the system supports advanced imaging for cardiac, breast, prostate, rectal, and small body parts—services previously unavailable. He also noted Air Coil technology, which reduces scan times by 50% while improving image quality.
This upgrade demonstrates One Brooklyn Health’s commitment to enhancing diagnostic services in Central Brooklyn, improving care delivery, and addressing health disparities in the community.
