One Brooklyn Health’s Interfaith Medical Center Campus Introduces Two New Heart Imaging
Services

One Brooklyn Health’s Interfaith Medical Center Campus is proud to introduce two advanced, non-invasive cardiac imaging services: Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) Scoring and Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA). These state-of-the-art tests are designed to enhance early detection and prevention of heart disease for patients in the community.
Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) Scoring is a specialized CT scan that measures calcium buildup in the coronary arteries, a key indicator of atherosclerosis and potential heart attack risk. This quick, painless scan is especially valuable for individuals with intermediate or unclear risk factors, helping guide personalized prevention plans through lifestyle changes or medication.
Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA) uses contrast dye and a CT scanner to produce detailed images of the heart arteries, allowing physicians to detect narrowing or blockages from plaque. CCTA is commonly used to evaluate chest pain, assess cardiovascular risk, and detect early-stage heart disease that other tests may miss.
“Calcium scoring and cardiac CT angiography are powerful, non-invasive tools that help us detect heart disease before symptoms appear,” said Hal Chadow, System Chair of Cardiology at One Brooklyn Health. “By offering precise imaging of coronary arteries, we can personalize care, reduce unnecessary procedures, and ultimately save lives.”
“These new diagnostic tools represent a major step forward in how we assess and manage heart disease risk,” said Dr. Kirwin Gibbs, Chair of Radiology at One Brooklyn Health. “We’re proud to bring cutting-edge cardiac care to the communities we serve.”
This is part of One Brooklyn Health’s continued effort to elevate care across every specialty, investing in state-of-the-art radiology technologies that support earlier detection, better outcomes, and stronger community health in Central Brooklyn.
